The Dark Truth Behind My Education and the Horrors of Atlantis

# The Dark Truth Behind My Education and the Horrors of Atlantis Things were not always sunshine and rainbows for me. Sure, I had the extraordinary opportunity to study magic and science that no pony had ever encountered before. I was even able to invent entirely new forms of magic and technology, pushing the boundaries of what was thought possible. To an outsider, it might have seemed like a dream come true. But behind those incredible opportunities was a much darker reality. The very agents who were supposed to guide and protect us looked upon me as little more than a tool to be used. They saw my abilities, my potential, and what I could accomplish for them. They knew exactly how to manipulate me, and they used someone I cared deeply about to ensure my cooperation. Emerald. They threatened to send him on missions that would break him if I refused to do what they wanted. Worse still, they warned me that if I ever told Great Mother what was happening, they would make his life miserable. So what choice did I have? I couldn't simply stand by and allow Emerald to suffer because of me. I did what they demanded, even when I knew the risks involved. One such mission involved sending me and several other students back in time to retrieve the Atlantean database. Now, obtaining such a thing was nearly impossible. The Atlanteans guarded their knowledge carefully, and access to their database was restricted to those recognized among their highest-ranking engineers. So I worked myself to exhaustion, studying, learning, and proving myself until I finally earned the position necessary to access it. And eventually, I succeeded. But that was only one of the many things those agents demanded of me. Another time, Great Mother instructed her agents to obtain the control frequencies of the Soul Harvesters. Rather than risk their own lives, those agents decided to send me and two other students to retrieve them. We succeeded in obtaining the frequencies, but what happened during that mission would remain with us long afterward. I was there when the Soul Harvesters were activated. I heard the screams of those being processed. Those screams were unlike anything I had ever heard before. We witnessed the machines in operation, and the horrors of what they were doing were beyond anything I could have imagined. Afterward, we suffered from nightmares and night terrors. What we had witnessed followed us into our sleep, and there seemed to be no escaping it. But instead of helping us come to terms with what we had experienced, the agents chose to cover it up. They used fae magic to bury our memories, ensuring that their dirty little secret remained hidden. They didn't want Great Mother or anyone else discovering what they had sent us to witness. For a time, those memories remained buried. That changed when Illiane'thi unintentionally unlocked them. The memories returned, but something was different. The emotional context surrounding them had been stripped away. I could remember what had happened, what I had seen, and what I had heard, but the overwhelming emotions that had once accompanied those experiences were no longer attached to them. Yet removing the emotions did not make the memories any less horrifying. Even now, I still carry them with me. I remember standing there when the machines were activated. I remember hearing the screams of those being processed, and I remember the terrible realization of what those machines were actually doing. And during a period of deep self-reflection, I managed to reach further back into those memories, uncovering details that had previously remained beyond my awareness. What I discovered was far worse than I had initially understood. There weren't merely a handful of Soul Harvesters. There were thousands of them. Thousands of machines operating simultaneously, processing people into what the Atlanteans called spirit fuel. I want you to understand the significance of that. These machines weren't simply killing people. They were harvesting and destroying their very spirits, converting them into fuel. This was mass murder on an unimaginable scale. The systematic destruction of countless lives and souls, carried out through machinery designed for that very purpose. Those being processed weren't simply numbers or resources. They were people. They had lives, hopes, dreams, families, and futures. All of that was taken from them, and even their spirits were not spared. That is why they were called Soul Harvesters. And that is why I find it so difficult to hear others speak of Atlantis as though it were some magnificent, enlightened civilization. Atlantis, the so-called great gem of the universe, was a lie built upon the backs of slaves and the destruction of countless souls. For all its extraordinary achievements in magic, science, and technology, beneath its shining surface lay horrors that few could ever comprehend. I had witnessed part of that terrible truth firsthand. And even though the emotional context of those memories was taken away, I still know what happened. I still remember those screams. I still remember what those machines were capable of. Some things are so horrific that you do not need the emotions attached to the memories to understand just how terrible they truly were. Eventually, the truth about what Great Mother's agents had been doing came to light. And when Great Mother discovered what had happened, she was furious beyond words. She had entrusted those agents with responsibilities, and they had abused that trust. They had manipulated students, threatened those we cared about, sent us into incredibly dangerous situations, and then attempted to conceal their actions through magical interference with our memories. Great Mother punished every last one of them. But by then, the damage had already been done. When the families of the other students discovered what had happened, they were understandably outraged. They withdrew their children from Great Mother's teachings, refusing to allow them to remain under her care. Her reputation suffered tremendously, and her name was dragged through the mud. My own kitsune parents were no exception. When they discovered what had been done to me, they immediately removed me from that situation. They made it absolutely clear that Great Mother would never be allowed to teach me again. And given everything that had happened, I cannot blame them. That was when Inari took over my education. Under Inari's guidance, I was given the opportunity to continue studying magic, science, and the mysteries of the universe, but this time in an environment where I was treated as a student rather than a tool. Through Inari, I was able to study with the Lemurians. Their knowledge opened entirely new doors for me, allowing me to continue expanding my understanding of magic and science without the manipulation and threats that had overshadowed my earlier education. Emerald also became one of Inari's greatest students, just as I did. He absorbed knowledge like a sponge, always eager to learn more. Watching him grow and flourish under Inari's guidance was something I was truly grateful for, especially after everything the agents had threatened to put him through. For the first time in a long while, we could simply be students again. We could learn, explore, experiment, and discover without constantly fearing what might happen if we refused someone's demands. Looking back, I cannot deny that my earlier education gave me access to extraordinary knowledge. I learned things that few could ever dream of learning, and I accomplished things that once seemed impossible. But those opportunities came at a terrible cost. I was manipulated, threatened, and sent into situations that no student should ever have been forced to endure. I witnessed atrocities that remain with me to this day, even after the emotional context of those memories was removed. And I learned something that no amount of magical or scientific advancement could ever change. **Knowledge without compassion can become something truly monstrous.** Atlantis may have been one of the greatest technological and magical civilizations the universe had ever known, but its achievements could never justify the countless lives and souls sacrificed to sustain them. No civilization, no matter how advanced or magnificent, has the right to build its greatness upon slavery, suffering, and the destruction of innocent souls. I still carry those memories. I still remember what I witnessed. And no matter how much time passes, I will never forget the truth behind the shining jewel that was Atlantis.
